Earlier this week I shared my goals for the month and how I have taken notice of some big things that God is doing in my life. I began an incredible internship opportunity last Thursday, a blessing that encouraged me to celebrate the ‘wins’ in my life. 2014 was a time of pruning, marked with many storms that times of trouble. My feet are now on solid ground and there is new life in my steps. I smile at this print everyday when I sit at my desk, as it echoes the sentiment of my heart. When I stepped back on last week and looked at the wins and all that God is doing, I wanted to create a tangible reminder that every blessing is from Him and not a product of my striving or ‘success’. This verse sat in the foreground of my mind:

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17

So often in the past, I have lost sight of this truth. Life has struggles and storms and it can be easy to inch toward the mentality of doubting God’s goodness and faithfulness. I decided to create a jar where I can place slips of paper that remind me of the blessings He has given me this year and to encourage me when storms stir. I designed a little label with James 1:17 on it and affixed it to a 16 ounce mason jar. I have found great joy in adding pieces to the jar and having the scripture before me on my desk. If you are interested in crafting your own wins jar, I hope you will find this label to be useful. It’s a cheerful yellow and it measures 2 x 3″. Enjoy!

I Want to Love Him More

Oh friends. Tonight was incredible. My church is hosting a local IF: Gathering this weekend and it is giving me so much to think about. The biggest thing I am feeling after the first two sessions is that I want to love God more. I don’t want to get in the way of what He is doing, I don’t want to sit back and miss opportunities to love people and make much of Him. I want to know Him intimately and live out my life in a way that reflects my love for Him.  That hope has made me question how to best use my time and my resources, which means that this blog might be shifting a bit, slowing down, or growing exponentially. Whatever He has for me, my hands are open to it. Will you join me in praying for every heart that will be reached and for every hand that has made this event possible?
I hope y’all have a wonderful weekend and I am so excited to learn more tomorrow. You can join the retreat for free on the livestream here. It’s sure to be an incredible way to invest your Saturday 🙂
