Good morning, friends! It’s a little after 7 and the sunrise is beautiful this morning. I’m cozied up with my favorite quilt and my warm cup of coffee and this Christmas playlist in the background. Life has just been so sweet lately.
Yesterday was such a good day. I finally changed my last name to Shattuck at the DMV, bank, and leasing office for our apartment (woohoo!). I’ve also begun transitioning my email to my new last name slowly but surely! After I got home from the name change, I got moving on a broken light fixture in our bathroom that we have patiently tolerated since summer. Then I updated our home filing system and put away random papers that had yet to be properly filed. Y’all, productivity came in heaps yesterday!
I spent the later part of the afternoon organizing my new envelope system from Dave Ramsey. We have used simple envelopes from Staples since starting the envelope system, with the most-used envelopes tucked into my wallet. In a recent FPU class, I realize that our class kit includes a basic envelope system with more organization. It is refreshing to have everything neatly stored and clearly labeled! In organizing the envelopes, I also updated our November budget to reflect some areas we had overestimated expenses.
When Dillon got home from work, we kept the momentum going and made sizable progress on baby step #2, which is paying off our student loans. Y’all, I can hardly wait to destroy that debt! FPU has been so great. We have one week of our class left after thanksgiving and I’m actually a little sad that it’s coming to an end. I am totally fired up about financial literacy and discipline, and know this is a forever lifestyle shift for us. It sure takes sacrifice, especially during this time of year when I want to buy ALL the decorations and bake all the treats and bless all the people. But it is also a continual heart-check to remember that home, family, friends, and joy cannot be bought.
I’m excited to read this book once I finish the last few on my list for the year, as I’m in the process of really dreaming up and laying the foundation for a business. I feel that the Lord has been stirring my heart with vision and skills toward entrepreneurship for quite a while now. While I haven’t yet openly shared this and am still praying through it, I think that vision may be to serve couples, families, and individuals through wedding and portrait photography. I have a keen eye for composition and consistency, and was blessed to gain experience working alongside Ruthie in the past. It goes so much deeper than images though for me, and I’m excited to further explore this vision and take brave steps with it.
If you are local to Southern New Hampshire and would be blessed by images in this season, please send a note to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject ‘Photography’. I am hungry for experience and would LOVE to serve you through my fledgling business. And if you know a family who cannot afford to invest in a session but would cherish images, please let me know! I would love to give back in that way too.
Happy Wednesday, friends!
