Sarah Owen is a ray of sunshine, bringing light with her everywhere she goes. For the past three years, I have been blessed to serve as her youth group leader. She serves freely and willingly, always looking for ways to help others instead of sitting on the sidelines. Leading others by example, she serves on the leadership team for our student ministry. She is unafraid to step out of her comfort zone to help others know Jesus and it has been a delight to watch her grow. She is radiant, humble, and her sweet spirit spreads joy. Sarah loves to worship and she inspires me to connect with God by making a joyful noise. She prays fervently for others and is a fast friend to anyone in need. She loves her family, cares deeply for her younger brother, and cherishes family time with her grandparents.
When the door opened for me to trade my super busy schedule for a new adventure last month, I was eager to invest some of my new free time to catch up with my sweet youth group girls! Sarah (and Sarah!) and I had the best time last Friday afternoon doing just that. We shared oatmeal cookies, patiently waited for the rain to let up, and excitedly discussed college plans. And y’all, we laughed. I’m thankful I had my camera in hand for many of those joyful moments, as seen below. Our time together filled my heart, encouraged me in leadership, and affirmed the call toward photography that I’ve felt on my heart in the past few months. It is such a joy to capture the joy of others, and I’m thankful Sarah gave me the gift of doing that last week!
Sarah, thank you for letting me into your corner for the past three years. I truly cherish the memories we’ve made, from Work Camp to eating a whole pie during a small group night last year, big bold prayers to honest conversation, God has blessed me in knowing you! He has great things planned for your life. I am excited to see all He has in store for you and am cheering you on every step of the way!
