The holiday season is upon us and I am so excited! It seems like twinkle lights are multiplying through our town each day, traditions are being forged, and parties are being planned. This time of year always inspires me to spend more time with the people I love.
Some days, quality time means meeting at Starbucks while other times it means welcoming friends into our home. After hosting our first Friendsgiving last month, I learned the benefit of being a resourceful hostess and having a versatile home. To me, this means using what I have to create a welcoming environment and complementing with new pieces as needed.
In creating our home, we have taken care to create a solid foundation of basic pieces to make this possible. However, I understand that many people are unsure of where to begin with such a task! In a world of Pinterest, catalogs, online shopping, and social media, this can be daunting! Thankfully, this doesn’t have to be the case. Last month, I discovered Havenly and their team of designers who serve clients through virtual interior design services. Y’all, how neat is it that we have access to affordable interior design from the comfort of our own homes! If you’re looking for some guidance and direction in decorating your own home, I recommend visiting their website!
As the season of Christmas parties picks up, it’s the perfect time of year to prepare your home for hosting. a simple way to delight houseguests is by creating a thoughtful holiday beverage station. Inviting guests to craft their own warm beverage is a great way to serve them with hospitality after traveling in the cold. Best of all, you can accomplish this with basic household items and a bit of forethought. Read along for helpful steps!
Create a foundation
First of all, designate a sideboard or console table to serve as the foundation to your holiday beverage station. Position this in a place that will allow for easy guest access and visibility, such as an entryway or living room. Depending on your number of guests, it can be helpful to position a tray table nearby to serve as additional surface area to hold the beverages and mugs. Have plenty of mugs on hand!
Add festive accents
Decide on a menu
Keep your menu simple but be thoughtful to include variety to suit the preferences of your guests. Some of my favorites include hot cocoa and coffee, both of which can served in thermal carafes, and warm cider set out in a punch bowl with a pretty ladle. Set cold beverages out in glass carafes, labeled with a glass marker for a polished touch.
Offer a variety of beverage add-ons
One of the best parts of crafting a beverage at a cafe is the option to customize your order. In addition to offering a variety of beverage, delight guests with fun add-ons like peppermint snow ,cinnamon sticks, and gourmet marshmallows. Set out whipped cream and put cinnamon and nutmeg in salt and pepper shakers for an extra indulgent touch. Lastly, be sure to include spoons for stirring too, like these pretty gold ones!
The best part of setting up a holiday beverage station is that you can easily build it from pieces you already own. It could serve as a fun complement to a Christmas movie night with friends. Simply invite guests to wear festive pajamas and ask them to each bring their favorite hot cocoa mix, mulling spice, or add-on. The possibilities are endless and oh so fun!
