We Received Our First Wedding Registry Gift!

We’ve received our first wedding registry gift! Y’all, I am amazed at the kindness of others. When I came home from work on Monday, I found a box from Pottery Barn with my name on it sitting in the entryway. Dillon had just arrived for dinner, so we opened it together. I noticed one of our registry items had already been fulfilled while we were working on our list over the weekend, but brushed it off as a website glitch. We haven’t really told anyone but my bridesmaids where we are registering, except a quick mention in a wedding update post last month.

When we opened the box, we found this lovely spoon rest inside. After a moment of confusion as to who the sender was, I found a packing slip beneath the bubble wrap. Alongside a thoughtful little note was the name of a sweet past design client of mine from New York. I’ve never met her in person, but she generously blessed us with our first wedding registry gift anyway.

Not only did she go out of her way to send us a gift, but she paid attention to our story. In the littlest mention of our wedding registry in a post that’s a month old, she listened. I hardly ever know who reads my blog, who is impacted by our story, and if my words hold much weight in the giant internet world. This act of kindness affirmed the words shared here reach others. It also affirmed there are people reading these words in other parts of the country who care about our story. That’s pretty incredible to me!

We’ve been told that living a life of ministry comes with the blessing of generosity from others. While I believe that wholeheartedly, it’s something that this soon-to-be newlywed wife is just starting to get the grasp of. The kindness of someone I’ve never met proved this to be true, and I will always remember this gift. Thank you Ashley – we are forever grateful for your thoughtful heart!

I will be sharing more about how we created our wedding registries in a future post! In the meantime, here’s the story of our proposal. We’re more than halfway to our wedding!

Holiday Home Inspiration

I’m so excited to decorate our first home for Christmas together with Dillon next year. I already have some ideas tucked away and a Pinterest board to store festive inspiration throughout the year. In lieu of sharing  a home tour today, I’m sharing some of my favorite Christmas decorative pieces found along my virtual travels.

Blog-tember Day 8: Home Inspiration

Since I am not far off from planning my own home, I’m sharing my home Pinterest boards with you today in lieu of sharing my bedroom in my parents’ home. I keep a separate board for living areas, kitchen/dining, washroom/bathrooms,  outdoor spaces, and a home studio. Someday I would like to add boards for a front porch and nursery ideas, but for now these are well-suited to what I will be planning and shopping for in the upcoming year. Through all the interior boards I’ve noticed common threads of bright, airy spaces that are warm and inviting without being cluttered.

Goodness y’all. Seeing all of this together makes me so excited to bring some of these ideas to life in creating our home in the near future! Where do you draw home inspiration from?
