Welcome, dear friend! Here you will find an inside look into my life as a business owner and newlywed, helpful advice from years of studying wedding publications, and snippets of all things delightful as they delight my virtual travels. I'm so glad you're here!
Good morning y’all!
I’m writing this post from 40,002 feet in the air as I travel to Chicago. I ended up investing $8 for in-flight wifi because it enables me to explore Pinterest, listen to Spotify, and the like. My frugal self is living on the edge this morning. I absolutely love to fly so this morning has been rather exciting for me. I woke up at 4:00am after a two hour ‘power nap’ and was eager to get to the airport. I should really consider a job as a flight attendant or the like since I love flying so much.
This is my first ever solo flying excursion. My dad kindly drove me to the airport at 4:30 and I felt like such an adult when he dropped me off curb-side. With a bit of hesitation, I decided to check my bag at the counter because I really didn’t want to have to carry it through the airport and struggle to put it in the overhead compartment, since I’m 5’2″ and all. One of my friends lost his bags when flying with Southwest two months ago, so fingers crossed that mine makes it to Chicago with me! After I checked in at the counter, I went through security. It was my first time ever standing in one of those machines that scans your entire body. You kind of have to pose for it which seemed silly to me. Once I passed security, my first stop was for coffee at good ol’ DD. I then found a seat at the gate and read a chapter in Elisabeth Elliot’s Passion and Purity. Word to the wise, reading at 5:30am is not conducive to staying awake.
At around 5:45 we began boarding the plane. I was excited to claim a window seat for myself, specifically on the left side before the wing. I’m particular like that. I overheard the flight attendant say that there are 75 vacant seats on the plane this morning and that we can spread out since there is room. I was hopeful that I might have more space to spread out but I ended up meeting two kind people, a mom and son duo from the seacoast, who I’m sharing my row with. They are really friendly which makes it more fun than sitting alone.
Now I’m sipping the last of my coffee while typing away because that’s what I do. According to the in-flight updates, there is 1 hour and 34 minutes and 655 miles remaining. We are traveling at 494 miles per hour.
Airplanes just simply amaze me. I’m excited to see more of the world this weekend.
