Blog-tember Day 7: Five Things That Bring Me Joy

Today’s Blog-tember post is so fun! I’ve given much thought to the things that bring me joy ever since making a ‘what fires me up‘ list in my first set of PowerSheets. While my actual list is much longer than five items, I tried to choose ones that are more experience-based for this post instead of things.

1. Sharing time with the Lord

A few summers ago I began to first understand what it truly means to share in time with the Lord. I have since learned that time with God is the cornerstone of a life of peace and steadiness. My favorite way to share time with God is to pray and open the Bible first thing in the morning, setting my mind on things above before doing anything else. Nancy Ray wrote an incredible blog post on spiritual organization in 2014 that can be read here. I also enjoy praying aloud in the car, listening to the NLT audio in the YouVersion app, and reading the Word with Dillon.

2. Adventuring with Dillon

Before our relationship, I used to take adventures all the time with friends and by myself. It is so much fun to have Dillon to share this with now! For our very first ‘date’ (we were ‘just friends’ at the time), we took an adventure up north to the White Mountains. We have been carving out time to explore new places and take day trips ever since. A post on our most recent Labor Day weekend adventures is coming up!

3. Community

Ever since getting involved with my church a few years ago, I have taken great delight in sharing time with community through events, game nights, small groups, and quality time with friends. Fellowship is so sweet, y’all, and life is so much richer with people to share it with.

4. Getting creative

Whether blogging, doing design work, pinning to Pinterest, or decorating a space, using my creativity surely brings me much joy. It has been delightful to settle into this website recently as an outlet for my creativity!

5. Investing in myself

Working out, eating well, treating myself to a fresh juice or a big salad, taking time for a bath or at-home facial, or shopping for a new top all brings me joy. It’s restful and ultimately helps me to have more energy and confidence which is a win-win!
