Welcome, dear friend! Here you will find an inside look into my life as a business owner and newlywed, helpful advice from years of studying wedding publications, and snippets of all things delightful as they delight my virtual travels. I'm so glad you're here!
Y’all, we’ve been married for over a week now! We filled our first week married with rest, great food, and daily adventures. Since we took a family trip to Bermuda last month, we are saving our honeymoon trip for later.
We began our first week married with a restful morning at our apartment. I was so thankful to finally live in the same place, and to not have an agenda! We worked extra hard to bring everything together in the weeks leading up to our wedding that rest was exactly what we needed when it had passed!
I prepared fresh coffee and we began our married life by reading through scripture together. Two of my dear friends decorated the apartment for us the day before, including a thoughtful little gift basket on our makeshift table! Seeing it on Sunday morning reminded me of the community that surrounded us the day before. With grateful hearts, we made a big list of all the people who had played a part in making our wedding happen. We are blessed to have so many loved ones to thank for helping with our big day!
After opening all of our cards, we went out for lunch at the same restaurant we went to after Dillon proposed to me. We shared our exciting news with our server, who in turn blessed us in a big way! She told her manager our exciting news and they gifted our lunch for free. To make matters even better, they gave us a gift certificate for a future visit, and an extra to share with friends!
After lunch, we relaxed even more all afternoon. Towards dinner time, Dillon’s parents arrived with all of our wedding gifts and leftover food from our reception. The gift pile was more than I’d expected and Dillon likened it to Christmas morning.
I wanted Dillon to have fun opening our gifts since I opened all our earlier gifts at my bridal shower. It was so exciting to see how God provided for us through the generosity of our loved ones.
By Monday, it was more than 90 degrees outside! We almost took an overnight trip to Martha’s Vineyard but took an evening trip to Portsmouth instead. (I’m hoping to visit the Vineyard this summer!) We shared guacamole, a chicken mango quesadilla, and coconut chicken out on the deck of a waterfront restaurant. The waitstaff questioned our choice to eat outside because of how hot it was, but the water view was too lovely to pass up!
After dinner, we strolled through the square and played like kids in a fun game store. We are looking so forward to hosting friends in our apartment this summer for game nights! With that in mind, we had fun choosing a new game to add our collection. Y’all, I had no idea that a game called Happy Pigs existed, but we were so intrigued that we bought it!
When we finished shopping, we ordered refreshing gelato to share. We walked down to the water to enjoy it, as the weather had cooled a bit. I felt like we were on vacation with the beautiful sunset and the dreamy weather.
I planned to include all the happenings of our first week married in one post, but it’s getting quite long! Part 2 is coming later this week!
